Scholars Background: Dr. Emily Ma is a professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the University of Surrey, UK. She earned her PhD in Hospitality Management from Oklahoma State University in 2010. Her main research areas include human resource management, organizational behavior, the impact of employee behavior on customer experience management, and female leadership. Since 2010, she has published over 100 papers in international journals such as Tourism Management, the International Journal of Hospitality Management, the Annals of Tourism Research, the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, and Cornell Hospitality Quarterly. Her research on the co-organizational citizenship behavior of hotel employees is groundbreaking. The model and scale of organizational citizenship behavior she proposed, which are divided into three dimensions based on organizational citizenship objects, have been widely applied in the field. Dr. Ma served as the Deputy Editor in Chief of the SSCI Regional Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management from 2017 to 2022. She has also gained work experience in the education industry across Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. With extensive expertise in tourism education and innovation research, she has received funding from the Australian Department of Education for her research related to tourism education innovation.
