WU Xiaobo, ZJU-SOM Professor, Changjiang Scholar, Dean of ZJU Faculty of Social Science, and Director of National Institute for Innovation Management at ZJU, was listed in the sixth batch of Special-Grade Experts of Zhejiang Province (philosophy, social science, culture and art). His Team’s achievement, The Construction and Application of Enterprise Innovation System across the Life Cycle of Technology, won the Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Zhejiang Province.

Since 2005, Special-Grade Experts of Zhejiang Province have been selected once every three years. A total of 29 experts have been selected this year, including 10 experts of natural science, 13 experts of engineering technology and management, and 6 experts of philosophy, social science, culture and art. These experts represent the highest academic and technical level in relevant fields in the province except academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and are known as Academicians of Zhejiang Province.

As a well-known expert of international innovation management, Prof. WU has made outstanding contributions to the development of high-quality innovation in Zhejiang Province. He insisted on leading applied research with basic research, and established an original theoretical system of "Secondary Innovation" on the basis of reality of developing countries by focusing on seizing the late-mover advantage. He abstracted the management rules with Chinese characteristics from the management practice of Chinese enterprises by using scientific research methods, and creatively put forward the "Beyond Catch-up" mode in the process of nonlinear chaos during the paradigm shift of technology. Aiming at the practical problems of management in China, he is currently building a "C theory" of management with Chinese characteristics based on the practice of local management reform.

For a long time, Prof. WU and his team have been committed to accelerating the construction of high-level innovative province, providing strong support for Zhejiang in taking the lead of realizing common prosperity.
