On April 19th, 2017, a government-enterprise joint delegation with a total of 9 people visited Zijingang Campus, Zhejiang University. The group went to Science and Technology Pavilion, School History Museum, and later on had a conference on big data application and the future development of smart city intelligent transport, with the teachers from the School of Management, International Research Center for Data Analytics and Management, Zhejiang University.
The conferees are Prof. ZHOU Weihua (associate dean of School of Management, director of International Research Center for Data Analytics and Management, Zhejiang University), Prof. YANG Yi, Associate Prof. JIN Qingwei, Associate Prof. ZHANG Hongxin and Ms. ZHANG Yunru; Government officials are Mr. SUN Shudong (deputy director of the Development and Reform Commission of Wujiang District, Jiangsu), Mr. WANG Gang (director of Information Center of Wujiang district), Mr. SHANG Lixin (deputy director of Information Center of Wujiang district), Mr. LI Zhengfeng (Clerk of Information Center of Wujiang district); Company representatives are Mr. ZHAO Yun (Account Manager of Wujiang Cable TV), Ms. PANG Zhifang (general manager assistant of Suzhou Citizen Card Ptd. Ltd.), Mr. MENG Hailong, Ms. LU Jingjing (Wujiang Zhiyuan Information and Technology Development Co., Ltd.), Mr. LIU Kaifeng (VP of China Transportation Data Clouder Information and Technology Co., Ltd. (Suzhou)).
In the midst of the conference, Prof. ZHANG Hongxin introduced big data visualization research in the academic aspect, especially for vehicle operation track data management and application. The macroscopic regularity of city traffic was summarized according to hot pints extraction and theme quantization, and it was analyzed with other data relevance studies. Besides, he also shared other scopes of data visualization, which are closely bound up our daily life, such as mobile phone data logs, intelligent household electrical appliances, etc. Meanwhile, Mr. LIU Kaifeng and Mr. MENG Hailong shared their work from an enterprise aspect, particularly about the monitor of automobile track and traffic flow in Wujiang district. And they expect to improve timeliness to data updating and veracity to data capture.
Prof. ZHANG Hongxin’s sharing
The participants had a discussion on the future work of civic big data visualization analysis, mainly referred to three fields- intelligence process mode, various manifestation mode, and integrative application scenarios. First, for intelligence process mode, it has a higher requirement for deep learning, reinforcement learning, and adversarial learning, and it offers strong demand to schools and research institutes on interdisciplinary cooperation from visualization, statistics, analytics, and management. Second, for various manifestation mode, large-size screen monitors, VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality) technology are cooperatively used in many fields, for their joint effort. Thirdly, integrative application scenarios, it requires general solutions to cities, units and families. However, it was agreed that data breaking through is one of the most difficult steps. From government level to cross-regional and cross-layer, it all based on effective communication.
Mr. SUN Shudong’s sharing
It is a good beginning to cross-district and cross-layer communication and cooperation by investigation and conference. These three parts- government, university and enterprise should have more chances to communicate and cooperate. School of Management, International Research Center for Data Analytics and Management, Zhejiang University are setting up diverse platforms, to be a resource convergence hub. Let’s wait for collaboration and achievement.
