The Second Forum of Data Driven and Management Science of Zhejiang University
2017-10-31

To promote the high-level development of the field of OM, and further promote the cooperation of academia and the business community, on June 2nd to 3rd, the second forum of Data-Driven and Management science of Zhejiang University was held successfully by the Data Analysis and Management International Research Center of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou.
Many experts and scholars participated, whom from New York University, University of Texas-Austin, University of Toronto, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Nanjing University, Southeast University, and other well-known colleges and universities, and executives from the rookie network technology companies get together, discussed the hot issues in the field of Operation Management.
The opening ceremony was held by Prof. ZHOU Weihua , the associate dean of the School of Management, Zhejiang University, and our Center director. He is on behalf of the organizers of this event and expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt thanks, and briefly introduced the positioning of the data analysis and management international research center of Zhejiang University, which is an open platform, application-driven research and innovation based on the data center. This forum has 7 academic reports. And they were taken charge of the director of data-driven and management of Zhejiang University, Professor YANG Yi, as well as associate Professor JIN Qingwei presided.

Professor LAI Guoming from the University of Texas-Austin shared us with "Energy Assets Management: Based on the Data of Storage, Transportation, and Trading”. He told the story of the commodity assets, especially energy assets (natural gas) which was crucial to the economic activities, to build a real options model of operation and trading strategies based on the heuristic algorithm and the use of multidimensional price model, namely the approximate dynamic programming method (ADP), to solve the optimization problem of energy estimation problem of natural gas storage.

Professor Ming of the University of Toronto brought a share of the title entitled "Pricing and Matching in Sharing Economy". Aiming at sharing platform pricing and matching of supply and demand under conditions of uncertainty, he mentions that when supply and demand are with the transverse difference (priority according to the quality of order) or vertical differences (according to the priority, the nearest distance sorting) matching strategy is the optimal strategy. His report provides a solution to the shared economy of pricing and matching with two-side market characteristics, and also points out the direction for future research.

Professor XUE Weili from Southeast University shared us with the report named "An Inventory Perspective for Omnichannel Design”. His report is based on the fierce competition between online selling and offline line selling, and study how to design the omnichannel strategy from the point of view of inventory as well as whether the enterprise is suitable for omnichannel integration. His research constructs the enterprise customer sequential game model, and compares the equilibrium of the enterprises in the selection of the above strategies, so as to provide guidance for different enterprises to choose the optimal strategy. Finally, he analyzed some industrial examples based on the model results and provides some reasonable advice for the retailing businesses.

Zhejiang University, School of Management, professor CHEN Xi introduced his latest research: "Content Monetization and Content Supply on Social Media: A Learning Perspective". His research is about the effects on content monetization incentives to increase user produced content for the purpose of content supply. He constructs the creators of content theme, content and consumer choice behavior model of reading behavior model analysis finally draws some conclusions from the supply side and demand side.

Subsequently, two algorithms expert from the rookie Network Technology Co., Ltd.  WANG Bing and DENG Yong shared their report about intelligent logistics and revenue management respectively. WANG Bing  mainly introduces the problems encountered in the operation of the intelligent logistics system and the countermeasures. The algorithms used to solve operational problems, he says, are machine learning, a combination of artificial intelligence and operational optimization. At the same time, they use the real-time algorithm to execute the strategy, and the offline algorithm to plan the strategy. Subsequently, he also shared the specific problems of intelligent logistics systems in the supply chain and the warehouse replenishment allocation, location selection of Amoy network Village warehouse, path optimization algorithm for selection, inventory distribution optimization, and so on.
DENG Yong ’s report is about the "big data rookie wrapped revenue management". He introduced that the rookie wrapped taking the mode of dynamic pricing to model value-added services, to manage consumers for revenue management. At the same time, he also raised seven issues that need to be studied and expressed the hope that in the future we can strengthen cooperation with universities to solve these problems together.
