Qiushi Chair Professor Gave MBA Teaching Seminars for Young Faculty
2014-11-08

Professor Jean-Pierre Jeannet (JPJ), Distinguished Professor of Global Commerce in Babson College, was appointed as “Qiushi” Chair Professor at Zhejiang University in April 2013. Since then, Professor Jeannet has come to the School for two periods each year, involved in MBA teaching and consultancy work for the School. In the fall semester this year, Professor Jeannet was invited to give MBA teaching seminars for young faculty on October 24th and 31st , and November 7th. About 20 young faculty members joined the training sessions.

Professor Jeannet is an expert in the field of superior pedagogy, with years of teaching experiences from bachelor program, MBA program and EMBA program. He made full preparation for the teaching seminar, organized it around the key theme “Developing an Entrepreneurial Mindset”, and covered the topics including module design, session design, pre-session assignment, after-class work, teaching in class, and integration of visitors. The first training session was about planning the whole course, the second about how to run one session and the third about how to integrate visitors and how to summarize. Before training, he assigned pre-session materials to the participants. During the meetings, he demonstrated teaching principles with case reading, example display and group discussions. He also sent after-class assignment to let participants experience the work.

The teaching seminars given by Professor Jeannet were really helpful to improve young faculty’s teaching skills. All the participants benefited a lot from the training.
