On October 29th, Prof. Saul Klein, Dean of Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria visited ZJU-SOM for the first time together with Mr. Brian Leacock, Director of International Program and Mr. Allen Sun, Manager of International Program in China. Associate Dean CHEN Ling, Assoc/Prof. SHOU Yongyi, Director of MBA Program Office, Ms. LI Xianhong, Director of Academic Affairs Office and Ms. ZHU Jiping, Director of International Affairs Office joined the meeting.
The meeting started with a brief introduction of each school. Prof. Klein said that Gustavson School of Business is a small and focused business school which commits itself to breaking boundaries. There are no departments in school and students are not divided by majors, instead there are only three concentration in Entrepreneurship, Service Management and International Business. The School also pays great attention to social responsibility by setting up aboriginal entrepreneurship program and African leadership training program. One of the features of the School is their co-op internship system. Students are required to take part in credit-taken co-op internship which lasts for a year (three work terms). They will be allocated to top companies such as KPMG, Shell, Talisman Energy and IBM etc. The School has been accredited by AACSB and EQUIS.
Associate Dean CHEN Ling said that the two schools shared much similarity in missions, program structure and international strategy. Prof. Klein said Gustavson started collaborating with Chinese business school 10 years ago and now has 9 partners in China including Peking, Tsinghua, Sun Yat-Sen etc. Zhejiang University is a very important partner that they wish to cooperate with.
The two sides further discussed collaboration in degree program, student exchange, international summer school and MBA/EMBA/EDP study trip.
