2013-10-18

Achievement display of ZJU-Lund Venture Lab representing international joint effort of Chinese and Swedish students was held in Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University on October 17th, 2013. ZHOU Peng, students of 2012 ZJU MBA class and his team introduced a product prototype called “Istick”. Its embedded sensor and GPS allowed family members to be promptly informed and locate the elderly on Google Map when they fall.

In 2012, ZJU-SOM and Lund University Faculty of Engineering jointly launched an international and interdisciplinary course called the International Market-Driven Engineering (iMDE) aiming at cultivating the students with cutting edge knowledge both in business and engineering. The students worked in groups to learn about innovation through product conceptualization, prototype development and making promotion plans. This year’s program took in 81 students, 39 Swedish and 42 Chinese. They came from diverse educational backgrounds ranging from mechanical manufacturing, automatic control, industrial design to MBA. During the course, the students were mixed up in eight international and cross-disciplinary teams and were required to present a final business plan and a prototype based on their collaboration.
