With the development of private economy and family firm, more and more issues related with family business have been put forward, for example, “How to respond and adjust the business strategy and organizational structure?” Research in family business is in demand.
The 6th International Symposium on Entrepreneurship, organized by School of Management and Zhejiang University City College, was held at Jinxi Hotel from October 28 to 29, 2010. The journal Management World, Zhejiang University City College Entrepreneurship and Family Enterprise Research Center, Zhejiang University and China Private Economy Research Center participated in this symposium, which was sponsored by Business Information Analysis Laboratory of Fotile Group.
More than 70 papers were received and more than 80 scholars from famous institutions at home and abroad, such as Tsinghua University and York University, attended the seminar. Senior Associate Dean of School of Management YING Biao and Chairman of Fotile Group MAO Lixiang delivered keynote speeches at the seminar.
The symposium was divided into five sub-venues: business and inheritance, family business governance, case studies, sustainable development and modernization of family business management, theory and methodology. Meanwhile, graduate students from Zhejiang University and Sun Yat-Sen University introduced their findings and research. Some prominent professors proposed comments as well, which improved the academic standards of our postgraduates. 18 excellent papers were also selected for the MAO Lixiang Best Paper Scholarship.
On October 30 the 14-member delegation attended the International Family Business Forum held in Cixi city, hosted by Zhejiang University, Chinese Private Economy Research Association and Cixi Peoples government.
