Seminars topic: This talk explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping cultural tourism and creating new development paradigms. Focusing on AI-enabled cultural interpretation, technological upgrading, and global dissemination, the lecture discusses how digital technologies such as big data, virtual reality, and intelligent recommendation systems can deepen visitors’ understanding of culture, enhance experiential quality, and expand the international influence of cultural tourism destinations. The speaker will also reflect on challenges and opportunities in applying AI to cultural preservation, content production, and destination branding, offering ideas for building innovative, high-quality cultural tourism in the new era.
Scholars Background: Prof. Ma Yong is a doctoral supervisor and a leading talent in China’s high-level "Ten Thousand Talents Plan." He is a National Teaching Master and serves as the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education’s Tourism Management Teaching Advisory Committee. Professor Ma is also the Director and Chief Professor of the National Virtual Teaching and Research Laboratory for Tourism Management, as well as the Dean of the China Cultural and Tourism Big Data Research Institute. He is the Dean of the Tourism Development Research Institute at Hubei University and an editorial board member of journals such as Tourism Journal. Additionally, Professor Ma is the leader and chief professor of several national programs, including the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance’s National First-Class Tourism Management Program, the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Development Experimental Zone for Tourism Management, and the National University Student Internship and Training Base. He is also responsible for key national tourism planning courses, including the National First-Class Course (Golden Course) and National High-Quality Course in Tourism Planning. Professor Ma has received multiple awards, including the Second Prize for National Outstanding Teaching Achievements and the First Prize for Provincial and Ministerial Outstanding Social Science Achievements.
