Scholars Background: WU Wenzhi is a professor and doctoral advisor at East China Normal University, where he serves as Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism in the School of Economics and Management. He is also Executive Deputy Director of the university’s Tourism Planning and Development Research Center, and Deputy Director of the Yangtze River Delta Tourism Development Research Center in Shanghai. He has served as a member of the Shanghai Tourism Standardization Committee and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Tourism Research Center, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta in Canada.

His main research areas include tourism planning, scenic area management, cultural heritage, rural tourism, and tourism industry policy. He has published over 60 papers in journals such as Tourism Management, Tourism Tribune, Economic Management, Geographical Research, and Issues in Agricultural Economics. He is also editor or co-editor of five textbooks, lead investigator on two National Social Science Foundation projects and three Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Science Foundation projects, and has worked on over 50 local tourism planning projects. These include regional tourism plans, scenic area planning, and cultural tourism integration plans for locations such as Bozhou in Anhui Province and Jin Ting Town in Suzhou.
