Seminars topic: Prof. Yong ZHANG will discuss his research on insider trading activities related to peer firms’ earnings announcements. His presentation will cover how corporate insiders may strategically time their trading behavior based on anticipated earnings news from related firms, and the implications such actions have on market integrity and regulatory oversight. This session will also explore empirical findings and policy discussions surrounding corporate governance and transparency in financial markets.
Scholars Background: YONG Zhang is an Associate Professor in the School of Accounting and Finance at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on corporate governance, financial regulations, executive compensation, insider trading, and the role of media in financial markets. His work has appeared in leading journals such as Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Management Science, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and more. He has also been featured in Harvard Law School Forum and served as ad hoc reviewer and commentator for major platforms including CCTV and Reuters. He is a recipient of several GRF research grants.
