Scholars Background: Nuyang Zhao is a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He joined McGill in 2024 after serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his PhD from the University of Toronto in 2017, and holds both Bachelors and PhD degrees from Fudan University in China. Professor Zhaos research focuses on the roles of short sellers and financial analysts in capital markets, with a strong emphasis on practice-relevant issues. His work has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, and Review of Accounting Studies, and cited by major media outlets such as The New York Times, Bloomberg, and Reuters. He has also served as an expert witness in litigation cases involving short sellers and hedge funds.
