On April 17, 2020, Tilburg University and Zhejiang University School of Management jointly held an online workshop on Digital Transformation in Business & Society. A total of 24 faculty and staff members from both sides participated in the workshop, sharing recent research achievements, and further discussing cooperation in research, education and other aspects.
Dean WEI Jiang gave a welcome address, expressing that it is of great significance for the two sides to maintain close communication even though the epidemic is overwhelming the world.
Speakers include TONG Yu (Zhejiang University School of Management), ZHOU Xinyue (Zhejiang University School of Management), CHEN Xi (Zhejiang University School of Management), Spyros Angelopoulos (Tilburg University School of Economics & Management), Jörg Raab (Tilburg University School of Social and Behavioral Sciences), Robin Bauwens (Tilburg University School of Social and Behavioral Sciences).
Dr. TONG Yu shared her ideas on “Healthcare access challenge: Transformative roles of information technology”, which mainly used the theory of social transformation to analyze the challenges of resource inequality in Chinas health care system and the obstacles encountered in the transformation, focusing on information technology as a means to solve the problems of health care.
Dr. Spyros Angelopoulos shared his research on “Digital Transformation of Healthcare”, where he listed the current medical and health projects adopting digital transformation technology. He concluded that the application of this technology was conductive to the personalized medical treatment and the promotion of the medical care quality.
The study on "Generosity and Mental Health During COVID-19 Pandemic Outbreak" shared by Prof. ZHOU Xinyue attracted extensive interest and discussion. This study analyzed the psychological stress, the level of happiness and changes of the staff at anti-epidemic front line, and investigated and analyzed the donation willingness of the people with different economic conditions during the epidemic.
Dr. Jörg Raab shared his study achievements with the faculty members on the theme of "Big Data in Organizations-Comparing Organizations from China, the Netherlands and the United States", exploring the respondents comprehension of big data application and the impact of big data application. He believed that big data application has positive significance for productivity and decision-making.
Dr. Robin Bauwens delivered a speech on “Digital Leadership”, exploring the reflection on leadership brought by Digital Leadership, the status and development expectation of Digital Leadership.
Prof. CHEN Xi shared the research result of “Vision matters: short video design and consumer behavior”, which explores the influences of warm and cold colors, color saturation and brightness on customer clicks in Taobao network marketing.
After the heated academic discussions, the two sides reviewed the progress of the current cooperation process, and discussed the future cooperation, concerning aspects of PhD students, facultys exchange visits, joint application for research funds and others.
Since the visit of Dr. Koen Becking, President of Tilburg University, and his delegation to ZJU-SOM in October 2016, and the reciprocal visit of Prof. ZHOU Weihua, Associated Dean of School of Management Zhejiang University, to Tilburg University for its 90th anniversary celebration in November 2017, the two sides have carried out productive cooperation. In 2018 and 2019, the School sent PhD students to Tilburg University School of Economics and Management for one-year exchange study for two consecutive years. In the year 2018-2019, four processors of Tilburg University visited the School to give lectures and discuss cooperation. In June 2019, Prof. ZHOU led a delegation of the School to Tilburg University for the bilateral academic seminar. Prof. ZHOU said that the cooperation between the two sides has a solid foundation and has formed a continuous mechanism, which will be further explored and expanded. He also expected that there will be further academic and cooperation workshops next year.
