On 17th June, 33 participants from 14 countries and regions attended the opening ceremony of the 8th "Idea Explorer" Innovation & Entrepreneurship Global Summer Camp in Zijingang International Hotel, and were warmly welcomed by Prof. ZHOU Weihua, Associate Dean of School of Management, Assoc. Prof. JIN Qingwei, Academic Director of the summer school and representatives from the faculty team.

Prof. ZHOU extended his welcome to the participants, and gave a brief talk about the history of Zhejiang University and the University motto “seeking truth and pursuing innovation”. “I hope you could interact with our ZJU students, feel the charm of Hangzhou and understand the innovation spirit of Zhejiang during this global summer camp.”

Assoc. Prof. JIN also welcomed the participants and introduced humanistic history of Hangzhou in detail. At the same time, he demonstrated the overview, course introduction and business plan of the global summer camp.
In order to explore the changes and opportunities in Hangzhou, develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and contact cutting-edges start-ups and tech giants, the summer camp cohort is about to complete academic lectures, company visits and cultural immersion from 17th June to 5th July. Participants from world leading universities will learn about the entrepreneurship by designing their own innovative business modes, interact with entrepreneurs by visiting the innovative enterprises like Alibaba and SKIO, also experience Chinese culture by learning Taiji, Chinese characters and calligraphy. Meanwhile, professors and lecturers from Zhejiang University will give lectures, and a tutor from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management is invited for this global summer camp as well.
After the opening ceremony, participants exchanged their ideas with tutors, expressing their expectations to the summer camp. Led by faculties from Student Affairs and Career Development Office, team building and ice-breaking activities were successfully brought participants closer. During the campus tour, participants visited school campus by school shuttle, explored the school gym and recharged dinning card.
