From January 27 to February 3, 2019 "Design + Innovation" Singapore Winter Program organized by ZJU-SOM was successfully held at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). 35 students from the School of Management and School of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang University (ZJU) participated in the program.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide ZJU students with a unique SUTD Design Innovation experience. In the workshop, students were brought through a design innovation process that helped them understand and practice user-centric design thinking frameworks. Besides, students also worked together as teams to conduct user research and interviews, complete low-fidelity prototypes, and present their ideas.
"What is design” "user research", "prototype design, presentation, and feedback collection", "test, improve and optimize design" "business model implementation & display"...The curriculum covers the whole process of design and the knowledge of management, enabling students of both schools to develop their strengths. Especially for students from SOM, communication is a good opportunity to reach out to new areas. During the program, we can see the mutual learning between different civilizations by looking at domestic development. For example, various measures of environmental protection in Singapore are worthy of reference. Singapore can also learn from the application of various Internet applets that are already widely used in China. ——GUO Wenjie
“A week of exchange in Singapore is colorful, brings me a different taste of "red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple". Among them, red is "enthusiasm", full of expectation and curiosity; Orange is "sunshine", where the weather is summer all the year round; Yellow is "amorous feelings", Chinese, Indian, Malay……where multi-ethnic integration; Green is "S.G.". The design of our group in the creative workshop is called S.G. Garden, namely Shared-Green Garden. Well, Cyan is "achievement", as the professor said after the presentation, "You should be proud of yourselves.”; Blue is "sea". Maritime trade promoted the economic development of Singapore, and land reclamation alleviated the problem of land shortage. Purple is "night sky". It was late in the night when returned to Hangzhou. The trip to Singapore is still clear and warm.” ——ZHANG Linjie
