21st June 2017, the 6th “Entrepreneurship in China” International Summer School kicked off at Zhejiang University. A total of 37 participants, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, from sixteen countries and nineteen overseas universities, joined the program. Dean WU Xiaobo gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony.
The three-week program consisted of a series of academic lectures, company visits, and cultural immersion activities. Participants were lectured on a wide range of entrepreneurship-related topics such as doing business in China from a cultural perspective, Chinese family business, and global innovation in China. Participants also explored Chinese culture by learning Chinese calligraphy, Chinese taiji, and touring Westlake. Besides that, they had business trips to Alibaba and Wensli to gain first-hand experiences of Chinese entrepreneurship. Throughout the program, more than ten professors from ZJU gave the lectures in the program, and 6 ZJU-SOM faculty members acted as mentors offering guidance to participants. There are also many helpful volunteers during the whole program.
On the last day of the program, each group presented a creative business plan based on their learning and discussion. The business plan named “BEEHIVE” won first place as “The Best Entrepreneurship Group”, due to their unique innovation and adequate teamwork. Associate Dean ZHOU Weihua concluded the summer school. He deemed that the program successfully practiced participants’ entrepreneurial skills, helping participants to learn more about the Chinese culture, and making connections with potential business partners from all over the world.
