Workshop’s Topic: How to build theory? Ensuring theoretical clarity, novelty, and contribution remains critical for publishing in top-tier management journals. However, writing theory papers or building theory for empirical papers often presents significant hurdles: How can researchers clearly define and position a research question? How can theory be developed based on real-world phenomena? How can a rigorous theoretical framework be constructed? How can theoretical novelty be enhanced by integrating, extending, or challenging existing theories? And how can theoretical contributions be effectively articulated to advance both academic and practical knowledge? This workshop will address these questions by drawing on the review standards of top-tier journals such as the Academy of Management Review and Administrative Science Quarterly, sharing insights and best practices for publishing both theoretical and empirical papers in leading management journals.
