On September 13, 2013, a grand opening ceremony was hosted to welcome 27 newly admitted students of Master of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (GMSCM) program. A year ago, the School signed a partnership agreement with Desautels to launch a dual-degree program in manufacturing and supply chain. As McGill’s first degree program in China and one of the first international MBA programs in Zhejiang, the GMSCM program is targeted at high-potential managers, entrepreneurs, and professionals in manufacturing, operations-intensive services, and supply chain sectors. Taught jointly by renowned professors from McGill and ZJU, it equips students with necessary knowledge and skills to lead and manage organizations in today’s dynamic and global marketplace and develop companies through best practices gained from research, discussions, and a cutting-edge curriculum. The courses are part-time, given twice a month during weekends. The GMSCM also includes an international study trip to Montreal, Canada, during which students will visit local industries.
Students who have completed the GMSCM program will be awarded both an MBA degree from Zhejiang University and a Master of Management degree from McGill University. Associate Professor SHOU Yongyi, Director of MBA Program of ZJU and GMSCM Program made an opening remark. Enrolled students introduced their names, positions and industries to each other. The 13 cohort has an average of seven years’ work experience and over 70% hold management positions.
“The GMSCM is created in the light of transformation and upgrading of global manufacturing industry, and therefore expects to make important contribution to future supply of talents both in China and globally.” said Professor WU Xiaobo.
