.From a young Latvian architect’s perspective, moving to China and studying in one of the world’s top universities, refining my management skills alongside 62 other PIEGL students representing 41 different countries was an enormous but fulfilling challenge. During the past two academic years, a lot has happened. I have been surprised by serendipities I could never have imagined, built intercultural understanding from conflict through better communication about the needs and values of others, and been challenged to fill the gaps in my assumptions and experience. I would live and enjoy every moment of the PIEGL program again if I could. From the minor frustrations to the resounding victories, I have been enriched by all of it. Thank you, Zhejiang University. If you’re considering the PIEGL program, my advice is this: Go with the flow, not against it. Be present in every moment.
